Green Chemical Processing provides an overview of the aims and challenges of sustainable chemistry and highlights recent developments in what has become a highly active area of research. While the American Chemical Society’s 12 Principles of Green Chemistry are used as guidelines throughout the series, Green Chemical Processing also looks to the future and considers the potential of this dynamic field beyond the established tenets of sustainability. The volumes of this series will combine to a reference on Green Chemical Processing for Chemists, Chemical Process Engineers, Chemical Engineers, Materials Scientists as well as beginners and students in the field.

The “greening” of industry processes—making them more sustainable—is a popular and often lucrative trend. This series explores industrial processes in the context of making them sustainable and the implications.

Band 1 in dieser Reihe

Sustainable Green Chemistry, the 1st volume of Green Chemical Processing, covers several key aspects of modern green processing. The scope of this volume goes beyond bio- and organic chemistry, highlighting the ecological and economic benefits of enhanced sustainability in such diverse fields as petrochemistry, metal production and wastewater treatment. The authors discuss recent progresses and challenges in the implementation of green chemical processes as well as their transfer from academia to industry and teaching at all levels. Selected successes in the greening of established processes and reactions are presented, including the use of switchable polarity solvents, actinide recovery using ionic liquids, and the removal of the ubiquitous bisphenol A molecule from effluent streams by phytodegradation.
